Module 1 includes general terms related to the different aspects of the building and civil engineering construction, such as professions and trades; location and planning, and terms associated with the environment and sustainability, which is very important nowadays.

In this module we will have a look at terms related to the different types of foundations such as shallow, deep or piled foundations, the footings, etc., and the most common structural frames, like concrete frame structures and related terms like beams, slabs or columns.

In module four we will study some construction elements such as walling systems and openings in façades, that is to say, doors and windows, types and components of those two elements like leaves, panes, sashes, casements, etc.

In this last module we will examine flooring systems and the most common types of roofs, like flat or gable roofs, including also terms related to services and fittings such as pipes, drainage, electrical wiring and the like.
